Course closures and shortages: is this the end for learning disability nursing?

A coalition of charities, campaigners and health organisations warns that learning disability nursing faces collapse by 2028 without urgent government action. The learning disability nursing workforce has declined by 43% since 2009, with training courses closing across the UK. Campaigners urge the government to recommit to 2023 NHS Workforce Plan targets, fund training, support students and launch recruitment efforts. They are calling for an urgent meeting with government ministers to prevent further decline and protect vulnerable individuals' care.
