A nurse was struck off from the Nursing and Midwifery register for stealing £103,203 from three patients in his care at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. Kelvin Ramasta told the regulator he had been a good nurse ‘blinded’ by the money. He expressed his regret and desire for a better future. He had transferred money in instalments from the bank accounts of older, vulnerable patients to his own. Mr Ramasta was jailed for four and a half years in 2024, the NMC noting the trial judge’s comments that he had spent the money on gambling, luxury items, food and travel.
