Fund for nursing students set up in honour of murdered nurse

The Claire Chick Nursing Fund has been set up in memory of the much-loved nurse lecturer at the University of Plymouth, to provide support for nursing students facing financial or personal hardship. Ms Chick, who was murdered by her estranged husband in January 2025, is described by colleagues as a dedicated nurse and passionate advocate for nursing students and someone who ‘lit up people’s lives’. The article includes a video from a ceremony at the University of Plymouth where Ms Chick was awarded a posthumous PhD, and also details sources of help for people living with domestic violence or intimate partner abuse.
