Struck off: care home nurse who knew resident had left property to her in his will

A nurse who knew she was in line to inherit property and shares in a resident’s will was struck off by the NMC for breaching professional boundaries. Michelle Day had failed to declare gifts, and that she knew she had been named as a beneficiary in the man’s will. An NMC fitness to practise panel found the care home residents had believed he and the nurse were in a romantic relationship. Ms Day would visit him in the home on her days off but said she was known for going ‘above and beyond’ for patients.
